LIFE-Style: How To Stay Creative & Be Inspired

Posted by CATHYA LOPEZ

How to stay creative..

Everyone has the ability to be creative - some people just do a better job of fostering an environment that helps naturally stimulate and inspire them. In this article I will be sharing some helpful tips to live more inspired and in tune with your inner child.

By having the right environment and internal tools for flourishing creativity, you will not only notice differences in your creative practices, but will also enjoy the positive side effects in all areas of your life.

Tips and tricks to foster a more creative life:

1.  Find energizing interests.

Everyday tasks can either drain all your natural energy or lift you up, filling you with energy. Find what works for you, then do those things every day. This is a boost to your creativity and your energy!

2.  Meditation and reflection.

Calming your mind with meditation helps you refresh while also clearing your mind and bringing out intuitive awareness. This helps to open your thoughts to everything existing around you, which also nurtures creativity.

3.  Creative experimentation.

Make time for creative experimentation. Let your creativity flow without thoughts, plans or set goals, and see what you can come up with. Creative experimentation nurtures and inspires you to live a creative life.

4.  Get enough sleep.

Plenty of sleep is necessary for creative nurturing. Restful sleep helps with full capacity mind functions, making focus easier while opening the mind to creative ideas all day long.

5.  Once a week treat yo' self

Once a week, make time for you. When we continually rush from one thing to the next, personal indulgence is forgotten. Indulging is anything you enjoy, like seeing a local art show, having coffee at the corner coffee shop, going to the park, or just relaxing with a good book. Creative inspiration comes from a calm mind which a-once-a-week indulgence provides. Remember to treat yo' self, don't cheat yo' self.

6.  Time with nature has benefits.

Gather limitless creativity and intuitive awareness benefits from spending time with nature. Just experiencing all the wonders of our world - whether its a leisurely beach stroll or a walk in the park with your dog pal helps boost your endorphins and raises your creative awareness.

7.  A fun hobby is what you need.

Seems as if everything we do has a special result or goal and we become tied down to that goal. Doing something fun, like a hobby, helps you see the joy in the moment and be present. It helps boost awareness of self, allowing creative ideas to easily flow.

8. Your imagination needs to exercise.

Like the rest of your body, the imagination needs to exercise. Start each day with a challenge that’s fun, like a creative game or an affirmation. For example, start with any word, like palm tree. Next, choose a creative medium, like drawing, and try creating something out of those two things. These games help nurture creativity while boosting long-term creative abilities when you exercise your mind with them.

9.  Practice yoga daily.

When practiced daily, yoga centers you and helps fulfill your mind, body, and spirit. It clears mind clutter and nurtures creativity while improving intuitive awareness.

10. Everyday reading.

Reading exposes you to others ideas, making you aware of them and your creative thoughts. By reading everyday you gain knowledge and inspiration for improving intuitive awareness and fueling creativity.

End of 2015 - Cleansing Your Sacred Space - Home/Spirituality

Posted by CATHYA LOPEZ in Space

Familia Gitana,

What a beautiful and equally challenging experience this year has been. As we wrap up the final days of this year I'd like to take a moment and THANK YOU all for supporting our labor of love whether you are a customer, friend, reader, or member of our human family. It's been such an amazing time navigating our collective and steering it in the "right" direction. Also, being able to collaborate on something with my sisters is something that is invaluable and I am forever grateful to be a part of this journey together. I hope that we all take some time to ourselves to count our blessings and reminisce on all of the lessons, experiences, and good times that occurred in 2015. May all humans everywhere be happy, loved, and free. To a prosperous, FUN, and effortless 2016!! (Pops Champagne) Much love!

Cleanse your energy and set the tone for good vibes ONLY this New Year!

Smudging: An intentional Sacred Ceremony

What is smudging?

Smudging is an ancient ceremony in which you burn sacred plants, such as sage, to allow the smoke to clear and bless a space.

Do I need to be spiritual to cleanse my space? No, Smudging is a practice that anyone can apply to cleanse their space and overall aura. You don't need to belong to a specific religion or have a spiritual practice to perform this act of love. I do however encourage anyone to try it at least once and see whether its something they'd like to continue doing.

Why should I cleanse my space?

If you find yourself feeling worn out, stuck, sluggish, low in energy & with a cloudy vision of your life it may be due to "stagnant" energy that is lingering in your current life situation. Everyone has a magnetic field which includes your energetic, emotional, mental, spiritual, physical body & space. When energy is stagnant or negative it is believed that manifests into unhappiness, lack of success and creativity, and even drains your physical wellbeing. Cleansing your space every so often helps you clear the air and allows your manifestations and space to be free of negative clutter and helps the overall positive energy in your most frequented areas.

What You Need -

- sage or sacred plant (palo santo, pinion, pine, etc)

Sage represents earth and when ignited the smoke represents the air.

-abalone shell (optional) to hold + burn the plants.

The shell represents the water element.

-lighter (source of flame)

 How to:

Step one: Declutter your space and make sure to tidy it up as if you're inviting people over.. Open up your windows and curtains in order to allow clean air to flow in. Using your lighter or matches ignite your sage or palo santo (plant of choice) and blow lightly in order to get it smoking.

Step two: Set an intention. And remember the following:

  • Everything is related to everything; nothing is random.
  • Caring for creation is everyone’s responsibility.
  • This will is not religion; it is love.
  •

Step three: Blow on the embers of your palo santo or blow the flame from your sage so that it creates a fragrant smoke and allow it to cover your space/body as you walk around thinking of your intention and blessing everything that the smoke covers. Make sure to invite the sacred smoke around your body from head to toe and front to back before smudging your space. Allow the sage smoke to go around your body, guide it past your third eye, and allow it cleanse your physical body.. Then move on from your body and allow it flow around your actual space focusing on any door entrances, windows, and spaces where you spend alot of your quality time in.. Cleanse your workspace, your laptop, your bed, your doggie (*this one is optional).

A prayer for you while you cleanse your space:

May my hands be cleansed, so they create beautiful things.

May my feet be cleansed, so they might take me exactly where I need to be.

May my heart be cleansed, so I hear its messages clearly.

May my voice be cleansed, so I speak rightly & consciously when words are needed.

May my eyes be cleansed, so I see the signs and wonders of the world.

May my physical body & space be cleansed by the smoke of these fragrant plants.

And may that same smoke carry our prayers, spiraling, to the heavens.

    Namaste.

Consejos de La Vida - Sabiduria de Vieja

    Posted by CATHYA LOPEZ

    2.- Cuando puedas comer... come,

    ¡vas pensar puras huevadas!

Ayuda y escucha a tus amigas,

    Sé humilde, no agachada;
    sé valiente, no imprudente.

Gardening Goddess - Seeds You Should Not Buy from MONSANTO

    Posted by CATHYA LOPEZ

    MONSANTO WHO?

Years and years of professional research studies have shown us that Monsanto’s genetically-modified foods can lead to serious health conditions such as the development of cancer, tumors, infertility and birth defects. In the United States, the FDA - the agency tasked with ensuring food safety for the entire US population, is steered by ex-Monsanto executives, and we feel that’s a questionable conflict of interests and explains the lack of government-lead research on the long-term effects of Genetically Modified Organism (aka GMO) products. Recently, the U.S. Congress and president collectively passed the nicknamed “Monsanto Protection Act” that, among other things, bans courts from stopping the sale of Monsanto’s genetically-modified seeds.

For too long, Monsanto has been the benefactor of corporate subsidies and political favoritism. Organic and small farmers suffer losses while Monsanto continues to forge its monopoly over the world’s food supply, including exclusive patenting rights over seeds and genetic makeup. Monsanto’s GMO seeds are harmful to the environment; for example, scientists have indicated that Monsanto is one of the main causes of the decrease of the overall world’s bee population.

What are solutions we advocate for?

Vote with your dollar by buying organic products and boycotting Monsanto owned companies that use GMOs in their products. Also, we believe that it is the consumers right to know what they are purchasing -  the labeling of GMO's is something essential that we, the consumers need to make informed decisions when purchasing groceries. Holding Monsanto executives and Monsanto-supporting politicians accountable through direct communication, grassroots journalism, social media, etc. Continuing to inform the public about Monsanto’s secrets. Taking to the streets to show the world and Monsanto that we won’t take these injustices quietly. We will not stand for poison. We will NOT stand for deceit. We will NOT continue to watch our human family perish due to Monsanto poisoning our FOOD. That’s why on May 23rd - around the world we take a stand and March Against Monsanto.

Gather with your tribe & join us! We will be attending our local Bay Area events in SF/Oakland and would love for you to join us if you're in town. For all events & info check out the Official Site for the March.

    BOYCOTT MONSANTO GMO SEEDS

Monsanto creates these seeds, manipulates and genetically modifies them in a laboratory, and then sells them to the people. Many times the general public is unaware of all of the monstrosities that Monsanto is executing, but with resources like the internet and social media bringing awareness to this major is easier and more effective.

For all of you gardening babes out there who are getting ready to plant new seeds in your garden watch out for Monsanto, be informed about what seeds to purchase so you don't go and contaminate your whole entire garden. How To Charge Your Crystals Under the Full Moonlight

A Full moon comes around once every month and each time it does there’s a strong pull of energy taking place in our lives. The full moon gives us greater awareness and inner clarity and the ability to see things in full focus. It is important to be mindful of the energies at play in order to make best use of them.

The Full Moon's energy is the most potent for 3 days: the day before, during, and the day after the Full Moon occurs. In order to best cleanse your crystals it is essential that you lay them out under the moonlight either of those three days, but especially recommended the day of. It is not necessary to leave your crystals out all three days since one night is plenty. However, if you use your crystals regularly or simply prefer to let them soak up as much of the moonlight possible than you are welcome to leave them out all three nights.

Cleansing your crystals regularly is necessary and recommended since crystals absorb all the bad vibes and negative energy not only from you, but from the environment where they are placed in as well. To create positive energy within your crystals you need to cleanse them as often as possible, especially when you have gone through something super intense, negative, or if they simply start to dull out and lose their brightness. Go with what you feel, you will definitely know when it is time to charge your babies up.

It is a good idea to cleanse your crystals when you first acquire them since this process will remove any energy from whomever handled the crystals before you. How often you cleanse them will depend on how often you work with the crystal, how exposed they are to bad vibes, and simply based on your own intuition. If you feel that your crystals aren't working to the best of their abilities then it is a sign that they are in need of some energetic cleansing.

Simple Steps to charge your crystals this Full Moon:

    • Gently rinse your crystals in water

    • On a safe, natural surface lay your crystals out ensuring that the moon's light actually reaches the crystals

    • Set your positive intentions, visualize all of the beautiful things you will do with the crystals like bringing them along for an important interview, or wearing them to a festival where you will be surrounded by love & light. The point is to shower your crystals with as much positive energy as possible

    • Once morning time arrives you can collect your crystals, give thanks, and feel gratitude for all of the positive energy your crystals will be projecting into your life

The crystals that should be cleansed & charged by the moonlight most often are pendants in necklaces, bracelets, and jewelry that is worn all of the time -- all of your staple pieces! When laying your crystals under the moonlight it is important to keep them safe in a bowl, abalone shell, tray, or on a flat surface so that they won't move around or suddenly fall & break.  Our favorite way to lay them out is either by placing them on our window ledge or in a abalone shell outside where they effortlessly stay together.

After you charge & cleanse your crystals you will notice that they appear more vibrant, shinier, and lighter.

May this Full Moon fill your life with abundance, love, happiness, and endless good vibes.

    With Love and Intention
